All Play and No Work? No Chance!
While I've been working hard I've also taken some much-needed time for "pleasurable tasks"
I hope you're having a wonderful summer so far! As you may know, I've been working hard on the new collection (you can sneak a peek of it here: The Essentialist Collection). This collection is an analogue planning system designed specifically for creative small business owners who value slow productivity and want to focus on what's essential in their life and business.
Making time for mindful moments
While I've been working hard on this project, I've also been taking some much-needed time for self-care and relaxation. I believe that taking care of ourselves is just as important as working hard, and The Essentialist Collection is designed to help you do both!
But… I started guided self-help this month and the last session highlighted that although I put a lot of importance on doing daily “routine tasks” (brushing teeth, making bed, drinking coffee) and daily “necessary tasks” (cooking meals, cleaning house, doing laundry). I’m not always prioritising daily “pleasurable tasks” (watercolour painting, going for walks, catching up with loved ones outside of my immediate family).
That hit me hard because I thought I was doing well at doing self-care activities!
My aim is to include one pleasurable task to my day so I can bring more joy to each day, even if it’s just pausing to take a 10 minute walk around the block (I’m lucky my block is quite nice).
How’s your daily task list looking?
If you logged a list of your daily tasks for a week would it feature at least one pleasurable task each day? Do you consider daily pleasurable tasks as essential?
