As summer comes to an end, it's time to shift our focus back to business. But with so much to do and so little time left in the year, where do we even begin? In this blog post, I’m sharing a few tips on how I plan to use September to set goals and plan for the rest of the year, so we can finish strong and achieve steady success together.
Is it Too Soon to Talk About the C Word?
(As in Christmas).
As a small business owner, it can be challenging to find the time and energy to plan for the rest of the year, especially if you’ve had a busy summer (🙋🏽♀️ Yup, that’s me, 3 kiddos to entertain for 6 weeks has left me feeling tired as a mother).
And I know with the holiday season fast approaching, it can feel overwhelming to think about all the things you need to do to hit your goals and end the year on a high note.
Am I on a Path of Falling Behind Again?
But the truth is, if we don't take the time to plan and set goals for the rest of the year, we’re likely to fall short of our aspirations.
Without a plan in place, there’s a high chance I’ll end up finding myself struggling to keep up with the demands of the season, missing out on opportunities, and feeling like I’m falling behind on achieving my plans. Sound familiar?
Get me on the Path for Steady Success!
That's where September comes in. By using this month to set goals and plan for the rest of the year, we can ensure that we’re well-prepared for the busy season ahead. With a clear roadmap in place, we’ll be able to tackle our to-do list with confidence and ease, and achieve steady success.
Let’s Confidently Pass the Finish Line.
Imagine feeling energized and excited about your business as you head into the holiday season. Picture yourself hitting your goals, making progress on your projects, and feeling confident in your ability to succeed. With a little planning and preparation, I’m aiming for this to be my reality - and I want to share with you my ideas on how I plan to achieve this. So let’s get to it…
Using September to Set Goals and Take Action.
Here’s how I’m aiming to use September to plan for the rest of the year, with these actionable tips:
Review goals: Take some time to review the goals for the year so far. What progress has been made? What still needs to be done? (PRO TIP: Be honest with yourself about where you are and where you want to be).
Set new goals: Based on the review, set some new goals for the rest of the year. Make sure they are specific and achievable within the timeframe left.
Break down goals: Once the last quarter goals are in place, break them down into actionable steps. What’s needed to achieve each goal? What resources are required? Who needs to be involve?
Create a timeline: Use a calendar or project management tool to create a timeline for the goals. Assign deadlines to each step, and make sure there’s enough time to complete everything on the list.
Get organized: Use September to get organized for the rest of the year. (PRO TIP: Clean up your workspace, declutter your digital files, and make sure everything is in order so you can hit the ground running).
By using September to plan for the rest of the year, we can set ourselves up for success and achieve steady progress towards our goals.
Remember, the key is to make our goal tasks specific, actionable, and most importantly realistic. With a roadmap in place, we’ll be well-prepared for the busy season ahead and ready to finish the year on a high note (Woo-Hoo 🥳).
